New Livestock Identification Rules

Minnesota is amending or adopting their policies towards livestock identification.  Board of Animal Health is now making it mandatory for all breeding cattle to have an official form of identification given to all cattle intended for reproduction.  It appears there are 2-3 ways to identify animals.  The standard silver tag, which the Board will provide at no charge, will be on optional form.  The official US tags sold by CRI and other companies that have recordable data on them are another option.  I believe any RFID tag is acceptable too.  I have not questioned them but I would think tatoo's for registered breed would also be acceptable forms of identification as well.

I expect more details to emerge in the future.
